The Parish Council manages an area of land at Five Ways on the western side of the Compton Road at its junction with Water Street. This is divided into a number of plots of varying sizes that are available for residents to rent as allotments at a very nominal annual cost that is intended to cover the supply of water available for use on the site by tenants.

Following a recent re-allocation of several of the plots, there has been in influx of new and very enthusiastic growers who have set about their tasks with great vigour and have achieved some very rewarding results even after just one season’s efforts. They are keen to share their experiences and, together with more long-standing users, there is a very friendly and helpful community willing to answer questions from anyone who might like to consider becoming involved.

There is usually a waiting list for a plot so anyone interested in acquiring one should contact the Finance Officer, Colin Layton, by telephone on 200766 or by e-mail colin_layton@lineone.net to have their name registered and to obtain a copy of the (not too onerous) rules.
