The members of the project group are Angie Cavell (Leader), Jayne Abbott, Vivian Brown, David Brown, Eileen Harry and Chris Saunders.
The aim of the project is to record and archive the oral history of Parish residents, both current and former. Initially we concentrated on recording people who had the earliest memories of the village, the original school, the railway, the war years, the chapels, etc. and the interviews have provided a fascinating insight into Parish life from the 1920s onwards.
The list of interviewees continues to grow as we learn more about the Parish and those who can help us with its history. Each interview is recorded and transferred on to a CD, and is also transcribed so we have a written record. Interviewees are asked to assign their copyright to the Heritage Group so their contribution can be made available for use, now and in the future, particularly for educational projects.
The unique memories of our participants’ experiences and lives are a vital part of our local history. They are of great value to all of us, and particularly for new generations living in the Parish.
We would be delighted to hear from anyone who would be willing to be interviewed, or feels they can contribute to the project in any way.
