Capturing the memories of our older residents has been an exciting and worthwhile project.  The Oral History Group have visited and recorded on disc the memories of many older residents.  This has been truly fascinating and a wonderful insight into the village in times past.   These recordings are available for any interested parties to borrow.
There are many projects in which we have become involved.  The restoration of the Village Well is of great interest and it would be lovely to hear, once again, the chimes of the old Church Clock when it has been overhauled and mended.  We have plans to record the history of the older buildings, many of which are Listed and we recently marked our entry in the Domesday Book of 1086, with the erection of a plaque and we hope this will be the first one of many marking just such occasions.
The interests of the Group encompass every facet of past village life for which evidence persists to this day. The most apparent are the many old buildings that make up the village, including dwelling houses, farm buildings, places of worship, and former schools, village shops and public houses. We are also keen to uncover information about the old wartime airfield, the nearby swimming pool that was certainly used by Hampstead Norreys residents, and the railway, and so much more.

The Heritage Group, which is part of the Hampstead Norreys Parish Plan, was formed to raise awareness of the life of this village in times past, by studying, recording and reporting on features and preserving and restoring structures and artefacts that have come through past ages to be with us still today.

The Heritage Group are a collection of likeminded folk who are fascinated by the skills and the imagination of previous generations, not only by their determination and resourcefulness in making so much of the environment in which they grew up, lived and worked but also by how they interacted with their families and their neighbours and friends.
