Purpose
The purpose of the Village Design Statement is to set out clear and simple guidance for the design of all development in our village, based on its character. It will be an advisory document produced by the village community, not by the planning authority.
Whilst it will not stop change from happening, it will help effect how any new building fits in to the village.
It will be intended to influence West Berkshire Council’s operation of the statutory planning system, so as to ensure that new development in the village is in harmony with its setting and makes a positive contribution to the immediate environment.
Work on the Village design statement has been temporarily suspended pending the appointment of a new Chairman for the Group.
