Important Bus Service Information

From the end of this May, the Transport Services Team will no longer be operating the two Village Community Bus Services.  These are the services that were provided in-house to ensure that villages that were remote from the local bus network would have a shoppers service into Newbury / Reading.  Only passengers with the Free National Bus Pass could use these services. At the end of May the driver who delivers the service is retiring and the lease on the vehicle ends.

From 1st of June 2011, the services will be operated as local bus services.  Jac's Minicoaches won the tender to operate these services.  As local bus services, fares can be taken by the driver and the service will be open to all.  Holders of the Free national Bus pass can continue to travel free if they show their pass to the driver.

From 1st of June;
The timetables for these services are shown below.

We have also been able to alter the route of D J Travel's 75 Bus Service that operates between Mortimer and Newbury.  On Tuesdays this will serve Ashmore Green (Telephone Box) at 1015, arriving in Newbury at 1030 and then departing from Bartholomew Street Bus Shelter at 1310.  This change to Service 75 was achievable because it had little affect on the timetable and route of the service.

We have handed out information of the 1st of June changes to current users of the Community Village Bus Services so hopefully all current users are aware of the changes outlined above.
