Hello everyone. The Committee is still working hard behind the scenes.
To date, we have collected approximately £7765 in shares and donations and we would like to thank everyone for their generosity.
However, as you may remember, we can only apply for grants for capital items, not for stock and so we would greatly appreciate even more donations to cover the necessary £10000 to £12000.
Please don’t worry if your cheques haven’t been banked yet. We have had some difficulty with setting up the bank account because of the unusual nature of our business. We have discovered that the Co-operative bank is used to dealing with Community Shops and so we are in the process of opening a bank account with them.
We are holding talks with different grant bodies, including The Leader and Greenham Common Trust, and obtaining estimates in order to purchase all our necessary equipment
The ‘One – Shop’ section of Tesco is proving to be most helpful regarding heating, air conditioning, shelving, legal concerns and electrical details. They provide an excellent service with absolutely no strings attached.
We continue to move forward and still look forward to an opening date of Autumn 2010.
