August 2010
Things are moving at an exciting pace. We have already reported on our success with the RDPE Leader grant, the Greenham Common grant, the COMMA grant and the Awards for All grant. We can now report our success with The RASP grant body, which recently gave us £4484.78.
On the strength of this money, we have been able to arrange for a carpenter to build a bespoke counter, a sign writer to produce bespoke, hand painted shop signs and a firm of shop fitters to fit bespoke shelving.
The electrician has completed the first phase of his work and now plasterers are ready to move in. Next, the under-floor heating can be put in place. Finally the screed floor can be laid. Once that is fully dried, and the walls are painted, the vinyl will be laid
We are now trawling for volunteers to help with every day jobs such as painting, tiling and general ‘DIY’. We will be ready for you by late September / early November time. (Apparently we can walk on the floor whilst we paint and before the vinyl is laid). If you put your name down on the original questionnaire, it’s time to come out of the woodwork. There may be a knock on your door from Diane Vale!
If you didn’t sign up on the original form, you can still volunteer (please!).
We have also begun to apply for shop insurance and the various necessary licences.
Thank you again for all your support.
